Untitled Art Society

UAS Satellite Gallery

Situated in the heart of downtown Calgary, UAS supports the education and professional development of early emerging artists through offering subsidized studio space, a black and white darkroom and contemporary arts workshops. UAS exhibitions showcases early emerging artists as an important aspect of critical engagement in provincial contemporary art.

UAS envisions a space where members from various corners of the arts community can gather, exhibit work, produce work, increase artistic knowledge through workshops, and access dialogue and discourse through access to others in the community, in a casual and supportive atmosphere.  UAS is interested in supporting parallel activities such as curatorial practices, art review and critical writing, performance, and off-site art projects.  UAS is an open and inclusive society that is not discriminatory towards any artistic practice, but is simply focused on creating an environment that encourages growth and excellence in art.

UAS showcases and provides production facilities to professionals, and occasionally students in the emerging stage of their artistic development for the purpose that their work be considered and recognized by the arts community and the general public.

UAS is a non-profit, artist-run organization that provides infrastructure and peer-juried exhibition space to Calgary's pre-emerging artists and showcases visual arts and artists from diverse cultures and communities within the city.  UAS functions as a community for artists just finishing their arts education and acts as a meeting place for artists, arts administrators and the public.
